Against the background of the exponential growth of esports, Timo Schöber and Andreas Schaetzke have set a goal to create an encyclopedia on esports in 2018. This should do well, (common) scientific and comprehensive and deal with the topic of esports comprehensively. This resulted in Esportpedia, the world’s first analog electronic sports encyclopedia.

According to the current press release, there is now a change of staff at Esportpedia. The ad said the founders of Schaetzke and the esports encyclopedia are going their separate ways.

Four books have been published – the Schitzky Papers

The project so far includes four books. Various authors participate in the project. This ranges from professors in the fields of marketing and game science, to departmental managers of e-sports organizations and scene experts, to specialists such as legal and sports scholars with PhDs. The fields of athletes, mass sports, the state level and the press were dealt with objectively.

The books are published by Meyer & Meyer Verlag, which is the most famous sports publisher in the German- and English-speaking world. The publisher has around 2,000 book titles in its range and is published in 20 languages. Tasks were clearly distributed in the founding team. Timo Schöber serves as literary and academic director and is responsible for book quality, while Andreas Schaetzke was responsible for the commercial and marketing aspects of the project.

Andreas Schatzky, CEO of PENTA, among others, will be leaving the project immediately. The exact backgrounds are internal, but the co-founders are part of them on good terms.

Timo Schober, co-founder of the project, comments on the staff restructuring as follows:

“Esportpedia has developed particularly well in 2021 and 2022 with two dual editions. A lot has happened on the writer and author side. In addition, the author and project team is now made up of 15 people, so a lot has changed here as well.

Andreas and I developed the ideas of an analogue encyclopedia together. Therefore, I wish him every success in his new duties and assignments.

Whether and how Esportpedia will continue will be decided in the coming weeks. Discussions are pending with the publisher. With regard to the tasks of the commercial project, the work should be pursued and the almost completed book project discussed. Since my time quota is limited, it is not yet possible to make a project forecast as is.

Many thanks to all the authors and project team for the exciting time and collaboration. “

A marketing book is scheduled to be published as part of Esportpedia for 2023.

About Esportpedia

E-sports is an ever-growing phenomenon, not only in economic terms, but above all in terms of its social significance. For something with such rapid and accelerating growth, it is important, among other things, that the subject is dealt with in a consistent, rapid and comprehensive manner, in the form of ongoing support. Esportpedia, the world’s first analog electronic sports encyclopedia, published by Meyer & Meyer Verlag, is dedicated to this task.

There are many works as blanket terms that are assigned volumes with individual topics. Little by little, new books will appear and you will continue to complete the whole work “Esportpedia”. In this way, the esports phenomenon is scientifically supported and made available to everyone.
