Elon Musk says Twitter will change its logo

Elon Musk said Sunday that he’s looking forward to changing Twitter’s logo, tweeting: “And soon we’ll be introducing the Twitter brand and, gradually, all birds.”

In a post on the site at 12:06 a.m., the billionaire owner of the social media platform added: “If the X logo goes live enough tonight, we’ll make it go viral all over the world tomorrow.”

Musk posted an image of an “X” flash, and later in a Twitter Spaces audio chat responded “yes” when asked if the Twitter logo would change, adding that “it should have been done a long time ago.”

Under Musk’s tumultuous period since he bought Twitter in October, the company changed its business name to X Corp, reflecting the billionaire’s vision of creating a “super app” like China’s WeChat.

The company did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Twitter’s website says its logo, which depicts a blue bird, is “our most unique asset.”

“That’s why we are so protective of her,” she added.

The bird was temporarily replaced in April by Dogecoin’s Shiba Inu dog, which helped increase the meme coin’s market cap.

The company drew widespread criticism from users and marketing professionals when Musk announced early this month that Twitter would limit the number of tweets different accounts could read per day.

Daily limits helped grow threads on competing Meta-owned service, which surpassed 100 million subscriptions within five days of launch.

The latest complication for Twitter was a lawsuit filed on Tuesday alleging the company owes at least $500 million in severance pay to former employees. Since being acquired by Musk, the company has laid off more than half of its workforce to cut costs.
