Ed Sheeran believes that in times of airtime and the resulting simplified access to music, album reviews are no longer necessary. He reiterated that people should make their own decisions instead.
“Why read another review? Just hear it. It’s available for free. Make up your own mind about it. I’ll never read an album review and say, ‘I’m not going to listen to this,'” he said in one. interview With Rolling Stone.
He also believes that the time of dead-end genres is a thing of the past: “I think there are two genres. There are good and bad. And I think kids don’t believe in genres anymore either.” Access to music has evolved beyond just listening to an album: “Now there are just playlists and kids say, ‘I love this song by this artist and I love this song by another artist. ‘” And it could be “Skrillex” next to “Doja Cat” next to “Kendrick Lamar”.
With “Subtract” his fifth studio album will be released on May 5th, thus it will be his last album of his “sports” era. The music video for “Eyes Closed” was released on March 24 as the first harbinger. In addition, he will appear on April 17 at the Admiralspalast in Berlin – his only concert in Germany this year. Advance ticket sales for the same start March 30 at 10 a.m.
