Anyone who has ever experienced Milica Djordjevic’s orchestral music in a concert hall knows how much power, energy, colour, flash, explosions, contrasts, compelling fusions and intense drama this composer creates in her music. She is a gifted orchestral powerhouse with an abundant sonic imagination. No wonder that in recent years she has often been a guest on the live music series broadcast by Bavarian Radio in Munich. Now four of her works from recent years are collected in an album, in manuscripts by conductors Duncan Ward, Peter Rundle and Johannes Kalitzky. The complex layers and sprawling structures of the works also sound incredibly alive on CD and lose none of their appeal. This is how orchestral music works today. And in the final piece “Mit o ptici” (“The Legend of the Birds”) there is also a compelling choir. A fascinating and exciting listening experience!
