Yesterday, Thursday evening, Electronic Arts surprisingly announced the official name of the upcoming Dragon Age series! So far, only the planned sequel has run under the name “Dragon Age 4”. We now know that the bulk of the RPG will be called Dragon Age: Dreadwolf.
In addition to the pure name, the associated logo can also be seen for the first time, which you can see in the title image. There’s also bad news for all the optimists: The next Dragon Age won’t be released this year. We already expected this in advance, but now the officials have officially confirmed it.
What does the name tell us?
The best way to translate it “Dreadwolf” is “the dire wolf”. This game will play the role of the opponent in Dragon Age 4, which, as we now know, does not actually have a number in its name. The dire wolf is actually his nickname. Solace’s nickname. Solas is an ancient deity, at least that’s what some say. It has also been claimed to the contrary, as per upcoming game imitations from BioWare and EA.
Dreadwolf will be a sequel to Dragon Age: Inquisition and will bring you closer to the story of Solas, the dire wolf. “His motives are murky and his methods at times questionable, which has earned him a reputation as a trick-or-treater god—a dark and dangerous gamer,” reads yesterday’s update. The developers initially teased the return of the character, which fans of the franchise may be familiar with, in 2018.
More on Dragon Age: Dreadwolf later this year
Finally, BioWare and EA have told waiting fans that there will be more information about Dragon Age: Dreadwolf in 2022. Although the role-playing game can no longer be released this year, the release is getting closer in the coming months.
At the moment, Solas is working on “putting his characters on the field.” But we still have to figure out exactly what that means. Officials promise that more new information and reports on the upcoming Dragon Age will be released in 2022.
