The parade of the new “park” in Dortmund caused quite a stir. It’s just a green spot in the middle of the intersection.
Ruhr Nachrichten reports that a small area in the middle of a roundabout in downtown Dortmund is making a career online: Google calls it “Brauer-Gedächtnis-Park”, while other online map providers have joined in. In fact, it is a small green spot with a diameter of a few meters, which is a kind of pass island.
The city believes the “park” entry came from a Google user who was joking. Meanwhile, according to “Ruhr Nachrichten”, there were a total of 16 garden classifications. “A pleasant, family-friendly and easily accessible atmosphere and green oasis in the heart of Dortmund,” the statement read. Or: “My absolute favorite place in Dortmund.”
A spokeswoman said upon request that the city had nothing to do with entry. It is definitely not a park to stay in, but just a green traffic area.
A single sapling and a red rhinoceros stand on the spot inside a roundabout, both surrounded by some shrubs and plants, for the purposes of advertising a local station. Vehicles navigate the “park”. The bustling area with commerce is located next to a large shopping gallery and multi-storey car park.
