When it comes to independent studios that have done great work over the years, two names for many gamers come to mind: Supergiant Games, which recently released a true pearl roguelite with Hades, and Klei Entertainment, makers of famous games like Don’t Starve, Mark of the Ninja, Griftlands, and more.
What is Klei Entertainment currently working on?

Under this name, the studio wishes to act as the publisher of two new games in 2023, namely Laboratory rat And the Mind over magic. It should also be interesting for all Klei fans to see a brand new game from Klei Entertainment at the PC Game Show on June 12, 2022. Called “Rotwood”, the image attached to the title actually shows a small forest, which supposedly suggests the setting and overall graphic style for the game.
In the past, Klei wanted to explore a new genre with each new game. They have already launched a game similar to XCOM Invisible Inc. sim Oxygen Not Included, Survival game Don’t Starve, and much more. The name Rotwood may initially suggest a new survival game, but if Klei keeps looking for a new genre for each release, we might get a true RPG, as we should have had with Griftlands. However, this was turned into a card warrior during development.
The next Klei game could also be a shooting game or a real-time strategy game. We’ll likely find out more details only at the PC Game Show on June 12th. As games from Klei Entertainment are definitely known for their quality by far, all indie games fans should definitely remember this date.
