Disney Cruise Line will offer the MagicBand+ technology used at Disney World and Disneyland at Disney Wish. Starting this summer, guests will have the opportunity to try out the new technology and its capabilities on select Disney Wish cruises prior to its official debut.
On Disney Cruise Line, the bracelet will not be called MagicBand, but rather DisneyBand+. With the waterproof DisneyBand+, guests can open their lounge door, top up their account for candy, or purchase a souvenir at one of the onboard shops. Kids three and older can also use it in place of the traditional Oceaneer Club bar to access the kids’ clubs, including the Oceaneer Club and Scuttle’s Cove on Disney Cruise Line’s private island in Castaway Cay.
The ribbon will allow Disney cruise photographers to link their photos to their accounts on the ship so they can easily view and purchase copies, and it will also unlock special surprises throughout the ship.
Although the rechargeable bands have a different name than the Disney Parks MagicBands, they work in the same way as the MagicBand+, meaning guests can use them on a cruise and while visiting the Disney parks. The DisneyBand+ wristbands will be available in three exclusive Disney Cruise Line designs. Wristbands are an optional addition to the cruise and are not included in the cruise fare.
More information about the first Disney Dreams cruises using the new technology will be released soon by Disney Cruise Line.
