Gas prices are rising. A company from Austria now claims to have found a solution for families to be able to produce gas themselves.

Using the new technology from Krajete, 1,000 kilograms of kitchen and garden waste can be converted into 1,000 kilowatt-hours.

Krajete GmbH has introduced a new technology that households can use to produce gas themselves. According to company reports, the new development is based on enhancing fermentation processes and various methods of gas purification.

Krajete GmbH relies on bio-enhancement technology for this purpose. This sustainably produced hydrogen (H2) is used, which is fed into a fermenter and catalyzes special fermentation processes. The so-called Achaea can finally produce methane from carbon dioxide and H2. The company says acacias are microbes. Carbon dioxide is usually removed in complex cleaning processes and then released into the surrounding air. “This is an expensive and climate-damaging waste. On the other hand, our Achaea operate efficiently and in a climate-friendly manner. They convert carbon dioxide into methane, thus nearly doubling gas production,” says Founder and CEO Alexander Kraget.

Storage of excess electricity

Anyone with a photovoltaic system can also store the excess electricity produced in the form of high-quality hydrogen. “Our technologies allow us to use the excess electricity to split water into H2 and oxygen and then use hydrogen later to boost gas production in Achaea,” Krajete says.

The company is now developing a fermenter designed for the average family. This should ferment up to 1,000 kilograms of kitchen and garden waste annually and produce up to 1,000 kilowatt-hours of high-quality gas.
