Introduction
The Corsair Xeneon 32UHD144 is the second monitor from the American company. At second glance, the test subject is similar to what has already been tested Pirate Xenon 32QHD165 is like an egg in the other. Specifications differ only as follows.
The Corsair Xeneon 32UHD144 has a 32-inch diagonal display in 16:9 format. The Fast IPS screen with Quantum Dot technology has a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels and a native refresh rate of 144 Hz. However, the response time is only the dummy MPRT response time and is given as 1 ms. With the promise of a GtG response time of less than 12 milliseconds, Corsair hides himself under a pint. FreeSync is supposed to eliminate tearing and stuttering, but that shouldn’t stop NVIDIA GPU owners from buying it, since the test subject is listed as G-Sync compatible. DisplayHDR 600 certification and extended color space should create additional purchase incentives.
Can Big Brother beat the good score of the Corsair 32QHD165? And how does the test subject relate to many other super athletes from well-established brands that have already been tested? We are curious.
Detailed information on features and specifications can be found in the Corsair Xeneon 32UHD144 data sheet.
scope of delivery
The total weight of unsurprisingly recycled cardboard is 12.5 kg. Due to the carrying strap on the top, the monitor can be easily moved to the destination.
Unlike its predecessor, this chest can be easily opened from the large side. In this way, the protective molded polystyrene parts and their contents can be removed layer by layer without much effort.
The support arm, base and accessories are distributed in several compartments directly under the hood. In addition to the four screws that are supposed to attach the monitor to the support arm, there are also DisplayPort, HDMI, and USB-C cables. The inserted paper or CD cannot be found. You’ll find what you’re looking for on the product’s website, but only documents of no interest to users can be downloaded here. However, we cannot discover evidence. In addition, the Corsair iCUE program can be downloaded, which we will discuss later.
If you remove the top layer of styrofoam, the screen will come out well protected in a foam bag. To assemble, the base and support arm must first be clamped together. As is often the case, this is done with a small hand screw under the base.
Once this is done, the monitor should be positioned with the panel towards the desk. The monitor arm mount is now attached to the VESA 100 monitor monitor using screws.
There is often a quick release that snaps into place when the mounting plate is lowered. With this model, four screws must be attached, so that the screen and the carrying structure form a unit. This is of course less convenient. However, the carrying device will not be disassembled on a regular basis anyway.
Of course, the Corsair Xenon 32UHD144 can also be attached to alternative carrying systems. For this purpose, for example, a swivel arm was installed on the VESA 100.
optics and mechanics
The Corsair Xeneon 32UHD144 monitor is made of anthracite plastic with a velvet surface. The surface certainly looks nice when cleaned, but fingers leave unsightly marks that are difficult to remove. A microfiber cloth often has to be used here.
The base and support arm are very durable and valuable and are mostly made of metal. However, this construction also has its drawbacks, its massive depth is about 32 centimeters. The panel is finally located 24 cm from the back edge of the desk. With such a large diagonal screen, a deeper desk is required because the distance to the panel is very small.
The Corsair Xeneon 32UHD144 features a 3-sided frameless design surrounded by a thin 3mm plastic band on the sides and top. The height of the lower frame is 20 mm. In the center of the lower bezel is the prominent Corsair logo on a silver background. The power on LED is placed on the right side, slightly indented. Illuminates white during operation and orange in standby mode. If the LED is overlapping, the light can be deactivated in the OSD menu under “System Settings -> LED”.
The Corsair Xeneon 32UHD144 display is 20mm deep on the outside. In addition, a housing with a depth of 30 mm, in which the technology is located, is built very far on the back wall. The upper part of the case has a large number of ventilation holes, which allow adequate air exchange.
Above the case, the Corsair logo is integrated again as a reduction. Unlike the foreground, a glossy black background is used here.
The power button and 5-way joystick for operating the Corsair Xeneon 32UHD144 are located on the right side of the rear wall, viewed from the front.
The monitor mounting plate of the support arm is attached to the monitor via a VESA 100 mount. Directly at the rear are tilt adjustment joints, which can be adjusted to a range of +20° backward and -5° forward.
Back behind the tilt angle joint is the lateral rotation joint. The turning radius is 30 degrees to either side.
The overall height can be adjusted by 110mm via the sliding system inside the monitor arm. In the lowest position, the lower frame is 70 mm from the table top.
The rigid support arm has the option to attach other accessories from the manufacturer to the upper end, for example for attaching a webcam. To do this, the existing screw must be removed to expose the internal thread.
On the way down, three clamps are inserted into the support arm, which are intended for cable control. It’s easy to open and there’s plenty of space to tie in all outgoing cables.
At the bottom, the support arm extends to the base. It’s a solid connection as convenient functions actually happen at the top of the device. If you take a closer look at the base, you will probably come to the conclusion that the part should also survive the earthquake. Filigree looks definitely different. The Corsair Xeneon 32UHD144, on the other hand, can only be knocked out by brute force, which we loved again.
The treatment is of a very good standard. All moving parts run quietly and cleanly with little initial resistance. The board is also precisely fitted and without bulges.
