Without a traffic light, it would be difficult for pedestrians to see a car pulling out of a parking space. Conte wants to increase safety using this technology. (Image: Continental)
Many accidents occur when turning, turning, or reversing. To reduce their number in the future, Continental offers a new solution. Most importantly, the new solution can be easily integrated into the vehicle, according to the supplier. All components of the system – The power supply, graphics processing and Micro-LED module – can be placed in a cube with an edge length of five centimeters. “This makes integration into the vehicle very easy and provides additional options that exceed safety expectations.”says Maximilian Ostrer, Head of Innovative Lighting Systems at Continental Automotive. In addition to safety expectations when turning or reversing, Micro-LED technology also offers the ability to personalize the user experience for drivers.
The forecast is intended to warn other road users
With Near Field Display, warnings, vehicle dimensions, or continuous changes in direction are displayed on the ground in the immediate vicinity of the vehicle. In this way, other road users should be able to recognize in time the direction in which the vehicle is moving. For example, the dynamic turn signal and reverse projections at the rear of the vehicle are intended to help signal to others in the vicinity about a change of direction or parking maneuver. According to Maximilian Ostrer, the technology should provide greater safety, especially for very quiet vehicles such as electric cars. With the display unit used, content can be displayed on the ground at a resolution of 16,000 pixels. Since the micro-LED chip has a maximum theoretical luminous flux of 10,000 lumens, safety-related information is always visible especially when the situation is particularly confusing for other road users, for example in parking lots or at dusk.
