Components Review – French Romantic Female Composers

A wonderful mix of many ensembles brings the works of French composers from the Romantic and modern eras to life in this square.

What a wonderful project, what a great fusion of this project, devoted to the works of French composers of the Romantic and Modern eras on eight CDs! In addition to the well-known celebrities, Pauline Viardot, Lily and Nadia Boulanger as well as Louise Varenque and Augusta Holmes, there are still many unknown artists to learn about. All in recordings made between 2019 and 2022. A concerted work by several French orchestras and various chamber ensembles, who all give their best here. The three orchestral paintings of Cleopatra, Ophelia and Salome, composed by Debussy and his contemporary Ravel: Mel Bonny, are fragrant, full of atmosphere, delicately intertwined in terms of colors and spatial effects. Brilliantly performed by the orchestra from Toulouse. The vocal and rich music of the anthology also glows with fun and richness of expression. This chest is both a treasure chest and a cabinet of curiosities. Discoveries is absolutely magical from start to finish.
