Google is rolling out some experimental productivity features for ChromeOS, and one of them, Focus Mode, could be introduced in ChromeOS 122. This feature was previously only available in Canary, but is now also available in ChromeOS 122 Dev, increasing the chances of a stable rollout. If all goes well.
Currently, to enable Focus mode, you must use ChromeOS 122 Dev or Canary and set the flag. chrome://flags/cros-focus-mode It must be enabled. It has not yet been translated into Japanese.
Focus Mode on Chromebooks lets you set timers and tasks to use the Pomodoro Technique. The Pomodoro Technique involves choosing the most important tasks and repeating focus periods and rest periods to improve your pace. It is a time management technique that helps you stay focused.
Focus mode defaults to a 25-minute timer and allows you to choose a task to focus on. The timer can be set in 1-5 minute increments, then every 5 minutes, and from 60 minutes onwards, in 15-minute increments up to a maximum of 300 minutes. There's also a toggle for the ability to turn off notifications while in focus mode.
Task placeholders are displayed, but you can set them yourself by entering text. Right now, there seem to be only unique tasks for focus mode, but I'd like to be able to view current tasks by referencing them from Google Tasks, etc.
When Focus Mode is enabled, you'll see an icon on your shelf that you can tap to view your current tasks and the time remaining in a Pomodoro session. The circular part of the icon also shows the passage of time, making it easier to understand visually.
However, currently, when the timer reaches 0, the focus mode icon flashes and disappears, but I think it would be more convenient if there was a sound or notification to let you know when the timer expires. After that, you will start receiving notifications about your Pomodoro session.
After trying it out briefly, I feel like it's a shame that tasks are set up independently and there's no notification when they're finished, but I don't think there are any major issues in practical use. It's great that both users who regularly use the Pomodoro Technique and those who are just starting out can easily use it on their Chromebooks.
Since it appears in ChromeOS 122 Dev, there is a high possibility that it will be officially released in 122 Stable or can be enabled with a flag, but an update will need to be deployed to make it available in Stable. After March 5, 2024You will become.
