Chromebook development begins with AMD Ryzen 6000 series | HelenTech

With the newly discovered development code, we’ve found that Google has started working on installing the Ryzen 6000 series APU (CPU) on the Chromebook as well. However, it is still in the early stages of development and it is not known what kind of device it will be.

Most Chromebooks released are models with Intel CPUs, and there are only a limited number of MediaTek, Qualcomm Snapdragon, and AMD APUs.

Especially for AMD, since it started with low-end A4 and A6, it doesn’t have much of an advantage compared to Intel, and when the Ryzen 3000 series was installed, expectations grew and performance actually improved dramatically, but the battery there was a problem that performance dropped significantly during Leadership.

CurrentlyRyzen 5000 Series ChromebooksIt also appeared, but due to the deterioration of performance when driving on the batteryReported as unresolvedIt’s done, and since there are so few models it makes a slight impression compared to Intel. Despite this situation, it appears that Google has abandoned installing AMD Ryzen in Chromebooks.

According to this report, there are two devices expected to be equipped with RYZEN 6000 series APUs, namely “Skyrim” and “Morthal”.

More changes will be added later.

Morthal was copied from Skyrim, so the two likely share a common wizard.

For now, this is the information so far, but there is a possibility that the AMD Ryzen 6000 series will appear as a Chromebook with high performance even in the benchmark (mid-range), and we expect it this time. However, there are several points that need improvement, such as the performance degradation issue when running on batteries and the operating stability issue compared to Intel, so I would be glad if you could follow along well.
