Chris Rock’s brother, Tony, has revealed a different version of events in the aftermath of the now infamous Oscars slap between Will Smith and the show’s host at the 2022 festivities.

Tony said Will, 54, had not reached out to Chris, as he previously claimed in a July 29, 2022 Video.

‘I just thought we were better than that,’ the 48 actor said in an interview on Big Boy TV.

Chris, 58, shared his side of the story in his own movie, Selective Rage on Netflix, and now Tony, 48, has revealed how the accident affected him.

The Everybody Hates actor Chris said he didn’t see the slap, because “I don’t watch the Oscars.”

Brotherly love: Chris Rock’s brother Tony, 48, claims Will Smith did not connect with Chris after the infamous slap at the 2022 Academy Awards.
The boycott: Tony said he found out about the attack when his phone went “crazy” explaining that he hadn’t watched the 2022 ceremony even though Chris was hosting it because “I don’t support the Oscars, because the Oscars don’t support black films.” “

“I don’t support the Academy Awards, because the Academy Awards don’t support black films,” he explained, apparently meaning even if his older brother was hosting it and if the show was produced by African-American professionals.

Instead, the funny man said, he was watching a basketball game on TV when his “phone went crazy,” making him think something terrible had happened.

“When your phone starts going crazy, as a black person, you think… something bad.”

He got a call from his brother Jordan, 32, and I replied like, “Oh my God, what’s up?” And he said, “Was that real?”

Tony was unaware of the attack, so Jordan quickly sent a link to the incident after which Tony said he was ready for revenge.

I’m not a gangster. I’m not the guy who waves a flag. He’s my brother, man. My father said “If your brother is in a fight, you are in a fight,” he said.

Later in the broadcast, Will returns to the stage to take home the Best Actor award for his portrayal of Richard, the father of Venus Williams and Serena, in King Richard.

When he spoke to Chris after the live show, Tony said the Amsterdam star told him to “be cool”.

Watching him was traumatic for Tony, not only because Chris is his brother, but because he had considered Will a friend for decades.

The actor worked on the family comedy All of Us, which was co-created by Will and his wife Jada Pinkett, and was loosely based on their blended family and ran from 2003-2007 on the UPN network.

Rage: The slap is triggered after Chris makes a crack in “GI Jane” about Jada’s lack of hair. The actress suffers from hair loss. He went on to win Best Actor for King Richard. He was banned from attending any of the Oscars events for 10 years
Painful: In an interview on Big Boy TV, Tony said the slapping incident was traumatic for him not only because Chris is his brother, but because he and Will have been friends for decades.
Hurt: Tony said he was also hurt when he saw another list offering comfort to Will, but not Chris
Revenge: Chris finally has his revenge, roasting Will in his selective Rage special on Netflix. Tony said it was “genius” that Chris decided to make a statement on his own terms “in my forum, in my gym, in my boxing ring”

Will also cast Tony in the 2005 romantic comedy Hitch.

Chris waited a year to tell his reaction to the slap, but Tony says the way he did it in the Selective Fury special was “genius.”

It was calculated, “because Chris decided to do it on his own terms,” on my forum, in my gym, in my boxing ring.

Tony said he was hurt watching the Oscars replay because “nobody helped my brother… I saw Samuel L (Jackson) and Denzel consoling Will, but they didn’t say anything to my brother.”
