Carrefour says they are the first retailer to use blockchain technology for organic private label products.
This technology is used to store data securely and protected against tampering. This way, customers will have transparent access to all available information about the path each product takes, from where it is created to when it is delivered to stores.
In April 2022, the Spanish-origin orange Carrefour Bio candy, sold in trays of four, will become the first product to benefit from blockchain technology, before it is gradually expanded to include all Carrefour Bio branded products.
Basically, consumers can get information about a product simply by scanning the QR code on its label. Here you will be informed about all about the product life cycle.
