It's a topic of debate, but it's more of a cause for concern than excitement: we're talking about generative AI.
This is not surprising because it is part of everyday life: Generative AI (Gen AI) is a constant topic of conversation, but the majority of companies are hesitant when it comes to using these technologies. The technology is not yet in use in 64% of companies in Austria. And 44% of them do not intend to implement it in the near future. Only a smaller proportion of companies are open to the technology: almost a quarter (23 percent) are currently testing the use of the technology, and 13 percent are already using it regularly. These figures are provided by the AI Trust Survey by consulting firm Deloitte, which surveyed more than 500 Austrian managers about their attitudes towards generative AI in the summer of 2024.
“If you consider that the topic has been gaining momentum for about two years, companies are still very hesitant,” says Efrem Bakker, managing partner of consulting at Deloitte Austria. This must change urgently given the expected recession, otherwise growth potential will be left behind.
Only a quarter familiar
For Gen AI to reach its full potential, user trust is crucial. But nearly a quarter of respondents (22%) currently have little or no trust in Gen AI.
