Where demons live well

The movie “Harakiri: Blades of Honor” is divided into two separate sections: Adventure and Exploration. After building, each character receives three Action Points, which can be used to perform different actions.

Move: This action can only be used once per turn. A character can move three spaces plus one space for each skill point. Well-developed roads or dirt roads are used for transportation. After the movement, the route event card is always drawn, which can be easier or more dangerous, depending on the type of route used.

Interact: Through this action, characters can interact with mission tags, demons, clan tokens, other characters or cities. New weapons and armor can be purchased or repaired in cities. In addition, new items can be added to the inventory, ships can be rented and taverns can be visited. Outside cities, life points can be renewed and bonds with a personal deity strengthened, unlocking new skills.

Every now and then, characters are asked to take a test for one of the four characteristics. A six-sided cube is used for this, in which the respective property points are added. If the value of the requirement is exceeded, the experiment is considered successful.

The main task, however, is to complete missions. For this purpose, various important markers are distributed on the map at the beginning. If the character reaches such a mark, then he can read through the corresponding task. Decisions that affect the game are made here and battles are fought against hordes of demons. In the course of the campaign, entire cities could be taken over, enslaved and destroyed by the shogun. Players have a certain number of rounds in which they have to complete a specific number of missions. But caution is advised, because the longer the characters last, the greater the effect of the shogun and the more devastating the consequences.

On the other hand, the exploration stage plays the classic dungeon crawler. Here both character and monster miniatures are placed on one or more smaller game boards.

At the beginning of each round, a card is drawn from the oracle deck, which can have both positive and negative effects. This also determines the actions of demons. The initiative cards are then shuffled and unlocked one by one to determine the turn order. Unlike monsters, whose moves are pre-programmed and mainly consist of movement and attack, characters have seven moves available in turn.

Animation: The characters move around the game board fields, just as they did in the adventure stage.

Ability Activation: For this purpose, three six-sided dice are rolled and can be placed in the ability slots as desired. Then the ability is implemented. Each time this ability is used, the number of points on the die is reduced by 1. If the dice is zero, it will be exhausted. When all the dice are exhausted, they are recycled and abilities can then be reactivated. Some skills require a specific number to be activated.

Kami Activation: Character avatars also give characters different abilities. Among other things, those that deal severe damage, but cause the character to die after a short time.

Skill dice regeneration: For 2 action points, all skill dice are recycled and are ready to use.

Objects can also be used and interacted with.
