Dutch mapping and geolocation specialist TomTom will in the future provide Estonian transport company Bolt with its traffic data in order to improve routing for ride-hailing and food delivery services. Bolt operates in more than 45 countries across 5 continents and 500 cities, with over 150 million users. The goal is to increase operational efficiency, relying in particular on route optimization tools, through which drivers and couriers can see the exact location of their customers on the Bolt platform and reach them on time. TomTom aims to make travel time and estimated time of arrival (ETA) information for each individual trip more reliable, thanks to access to real-time speed data from more than 600 million connected devices and billions of kilometers traveled daily.
This should lead to better time management and ultimately higher revenue for partners. The provider said that because TomTom’s products integrate well with Bolt’s existing routing technology, Bolt can also use its own resources more efficiently.
“With TomTom Traffic, we were able to improve travel time predictions by up to 15 percent, resulting in increased revenue for our partners and improved service quality and reliability for Bolt drivers and customers,” explained Markus Zimmermann, Head of Platform, Bolt.
By integrating Bolt's local knowledge of traffic events and disruptions into its own data, it can leverage the collective knowledge of its partners to provide high-quality, reliable location and traffic information, says Mike Schoofs, TomTom's chief revenue officer.
