The accumulated 13,315 kilometers of experience on public roads is just the beginning

Even in the UK, there is a lot of talk these days about inflation and rising prices. This appears to be a phenomenon closely linked to the BMW M2. Although it is the smallest of BMW M's current models, it is much larger and more expensive than its predecessor, the F87.

However, the M2 left a great impression until the end. In fact, the more you ride it, the better it gets.

My first impression was that she was incredibly capable, but also uncharacteristically serious. It didn't really look like a small, lightweight sports coupe. In fact, the maximum output is 460 pixels, and the body dimensions are not significantly different from the previous four series.

However, given the standards of modern high-performance models, the G87 type can be called small enough. The more I got used to the size, the more I started to really appreciate the M2. The impressive power of the twin-turbocharged six-cylinder engine is addictive. I looked forward to driving it every time.

It is true that what can be demonstrated on public roads is only the surface of performance which is hidden in most situations. It's difficult to fully exploit 460ps or play tricks in drift mode without heading out to the track. Ride quality in Sport Plus mode is also very firm for the UK.

Even knowing that, the M2 is still fun in everyday environments. You'll be impressed by the direct connection to the road and the responsive, symphonic engine. Although it is necessary to always be aware of scratches on double spoke aluminum wheels.

8 speed AT does a great job

The long-term test M2 has not been a manual transmission, a rarity in recent years. I knew it had received high praise in the test drive report, so I was confused about whether I should choose the automatic transmission.

However, now that we've been together for several months, I no longer think this decision was a mistake. If given the right to choose again, I think I would choose AT again. Anyway, the 8-speed AT does a great job.

The transitions are very quick and the timing is crisp. It is equipped with a launch control function, and works in conjunction with a traction control system capable of achieving real power performance with ease. Moreover, it is convenient even in London, where there is a lot of traffic.

Choosing one as your daily family car requires a lot of decision making. The back seats are roomy enough for practical use, but since it's a two-door vehicle, getting in and out of the car isn't easy. However, the luggage compartment is spacious and can hold larger luggage than expected. The powertrain's low-speed manners are also surprisingly elegant.

In Comfort mode, the ride is comfortable enough. Even on the highway, the vibration doesn't completely subside, so it's hard to say it's ideal for long-distance driving, but it does dampen strong inputs from bumps. The M model's sporty interior is luxurious and comfortable.

The infotainment system is also excellent. The 14.9-inch touchscreen is large, but its slim design makes it less cumbersome. Equipped with a rotary controller, it is not difficult to adjust the navigation while driving. I think it's a facade I want to keep in the future.

The seat is solid and the level of sophistication and perfection is very high.
