We learned a few days ago that the Nintendo Switch 2 could reach the level of current consoles when it comes to new AAA games, because here we are still often at the level of older consoles.
This means: a lot of games are still being developed on the PS4 in order to maintain the old foundation, and there are hardly any games that take full advantage of the PS5's hardware. And that's a good thing for Nintendo, because the new Switch 2 should be almost on par with the PS4.
Nintendo Switch 2: Assassin's Creed Series Coming
As shown by two well-known sources, He hearsUbisoft is gearing up to launch the Assassin's Creed series on Nintendo's new console. Older AC titles like Mirage, Valhalla, Odyssey, and Origins (the last two as a bundle), as well as the all-new Shadows, will be released shortly after launch.
By the way, Assassin's Creed Shadows is no longer available for older consoles, but it's not clear whether you'll have to make any compromises in terms of quality. Maybe the PS5 level isn't there, but a lot is certainly possible with an upgrade.
I'm excited because graphics aren't Nintendo's focus, but they certainly are to me. We've seen with the Nintendo Switch what Nintendo studios can get out of such underpowered hardware, even years later, so it'll be interesting to see what's possible with new hardware.
Nintendo officially confirmed the new console in the spring and wants to show it off by the end of March 2025. But it's likely to come out later than that.
Nintendo Switch demand is slowing down right now, and there are still a few blockbusters scheduled for release in late 2024, but I suspect we'll see the new release in September or October. I'm very excited.
