In cooperation with freight forwarding company Nolden Logistics, Bauhaus has officially presented its first innovative fuel cell truck to the public at the DIY shop operator's central European warehouse in Krefeld.

According to the statement, the truck will provide an environmentally friendly alternative for transporting goods in the Rhine and Ruhr area. Bauhaus says that with this step, it is confirming its commitment to sustainability and climate protection, which begins with logistics and freight transport.

The newly commissioned truck with a 190 kW hydrogen fuel cell emits no greenhouse gases while driving, the hardware store operator said. With a range of around 400 kilometres, the truck offers an environmentally friendly alternative for transporting goods in the Rhine and Ruhr area. The 661 volt/73.2 kWh battery power supports the powerful motor with 350 kW/3,400 Nm of torque for transporting a load of up to twelve tonnes.

The trailer attached to this innovative truck carries an additional eight tons of payload. With 38 parking spaces, double-decker equipment and the option of unloading long goods from the side, the truck is specifically designed to meet the needs of Bauhaus. It provides the ideal solution for transporting non-stackable European pallets and long goods, which are often required in specialist centres.

The truck is owned by the renowned transport service provider Nolden Logistics from Kerpen and is being used on behalf of Bauhaus. This partnership allows both companies to gain valuable experience in using fuel cell technology under real-world conditions – an important prerequisite for the future expansion of this environmentally friendly mode of transport, the statement says.
