Autohaus Seitz uses Numbat technology: fast charger and memory in one system

Car dealership group Seitz and clean technology company Numbat have announced a collaboration. The two companies from Kempten have announced that this year the first Seitz sites in southern Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg will be equipped with a combined fast battery charging/storage solution.

Numbat provides an ultra-fast charging station and 200 kWh battery storage in one system. According to the information, e-cars can be charged in ten to 15 minutes, and the charging capacity is up to 300 kW. The column is equipped with two charging points, with simultaneous use, up to 150 kW can be reached.

According to the supplier, the product range should bring many positive aspects. One of them is the possibility of extending the network connection of car dealerships to the energy storage system. This means that one or more wall boxes can be connected for slower charging, although the connection does not provide power in the traditional way. This is a huge benefit for dealers, because e-cars that are provided for a test drive are usually sufficient for a slower overnight charge, she said.

Avoid high loads and costs

In addition to the issue of charging, energy management and the connection of Numbat to indoor photovoltaic systems also play a key role, explained Bernd Czolkus, Managing Director of Walter Seitz GmbH. Self-generated electricity can be stored in storage and then used to either charge e-cars or, if necessary, return it to the car dealership. In this way, high peak loads and associated high costs will be avoided.

The group initially only wants to use the charging infrastructure for its vehicles and customers, Czolkos continues. In the second step, opening charging points for general freight is possible and conceivable. “With numbats, we will be able to offset bottlenecks from limited power supply options and improve the supply of self-produced electricity through intelligent integration of our photovoltaic systems. This is a great support in achieving our ambitious goals in terms of our electric mobility infrastructure,” stressed Kozolkos.

Martin Schall, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Numbat GmbH, is pleased that the expansion of network connectivity is being carried out with a company from the region. “Through the collaboration with Autohaus Seitz, we see that the technology in Numbat is exciting for different applications, and therefore also for different industries,” he added.

The Seitz Group is a major dealer for the Volkswagen Group from Allgäu. In addition to the headquarters in Kempten, the family business is present in 15 other locations. The branch network includes nearly 30 car dealerships, paint shops and logistics centers. About 1,200 people work there.
