ASUS Republic of Gamers announces the ROG Strix Scope II 96 Wireless Gaming Keyboard – Hardware

(Excerpt from the press release)

  • The 96% compact keyboard layout retains all function keys and the numeric keypad while taking up significantly less desk space
  • Pre-certified ROG NX Snow switches are hot-swappable and provide excellent tactile feel and stability with snappy actuation
  • Built-in noise-attenuating foam with additional key dampening foam absorbs sounds and echoes to improve keystroke acoustics
  • Trimode connectivity with ROG SpeedNova technology and the new ROG Omni receiver

Ratingen, Germany, May 30, 2023 ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) today introduced the Strix Scope II 96 Wireless Gaming Keyboard. Boasting incredible versatility, this compact keyboard features a 96% layout that retains all 100% of the functions and numeric keys of a standard keyboard in a space-saving design. Gamers can pair the Strix Scope II 96 Wireless with up to three devices via Bluetooth®. Users also have the option of 2.4GHz wireless connectivity with ROG SpeedNova wireless technology and the new Omni receiver, or a wired USB connection. Preloaded, hot-swap ROG NX Snow mechanical switches deliver snappy actuation, precise and linear keystroke, and enhanced key stability. Built-in noise-dampening foam and a dampened keyboard pad absorb sounds and echoes to improve keyboard acoustics. Typing feel is exceptional, too: Pre-designed, friction-reducing keyboard stabilizers allow for a softer, more stable keystroke for longer keys. The keys feature durable ROG PBT Doubleshot keycaps that provide excellent tactile feel and gloss retention. The Strix Scope II 96 Wireless will soon be joined by the full-size Strix Scope II and Strix Scope II RX gaming keyboards.

Strix Scope II 96 Wireless is the first 96% ROG keyboard with ROG NX Snow mechanical switches, which are made of plastic composite and ensure ultra-light pressure. The key’s upper case is made of polycarbonate (PC), while the upper and lower case are made of polyoxymethylene (POM), or POM. The encapsulated stem of each key increases stability and prevents dust from entering. The keys are specially set and tuned at the factory to ensure stable keystrokes and a “thin” (dull) sound. Additionally, the keys feature durable, double-shot ROG PBT keycaps that provide excellent tactile feel and gloss retention. If desired, gamers can swap and install their favorite switches for a personalized gaming experience.

Other improvements include wet silicone foam for the bottom case, another layer of dampening over the circuit board, and integrated wet pads under the keys that improve keystroke acoustics.

The Strix Scope II 96 Wireless Keyboard features a multi-function button and controls for media playback, volume, and keyboard lighting. In addition, the F1-F5 keys are pre-programmed as hotkeys for the Xbox Game Bar and recording functions.

Versatile tri-mode connection

ROG SpeedNova wireless technology delivers over 1,300 hours of stable, uninterrupted gaming with near-zero latency in 2.4GHz wireless mode (with RGB and OLED disabled). ROG Omni Receiver enables simultaneous wireless connections to compatible devices via a single USB dongle without sacrificing performance. Gamers can also use Bluetooth to connect to three devices simultaneously or charge in USB wired mode while gaming.

availability

ROG Strix Scope II Wireless Keyboard 96 will be available in Germany, Austria and Switzerland in specialty and online stores as well as in the ASUS Web Store (DE / AT & CH) in July.
