Now talk to Gary Greaves, Apple’s Vice President of Audio What is heavy To think of the company’s latest headphones. While the conversation touched on several topics, perhaps the most notable feature was the advent of Bluetooth.
When asked if Bluetooth “blocks” AirPods and “regulates sound quality,” Greaves gave a diplomatic but revealing answer.
“Obviously wireless technology is essential to deliver the content you’re talking about, but also things like the response time you get when you move your head and, if it’s that long, between moving your head and changing the voice. The same thing, it’s going to make you sick, so we have to focus really hard. While pushing as much Bluetooth as possible, there are a number of tricks we can play to maximize or overcome some of the limitations of Bluetooth. But that’s just to say we’d like more bandwidth and… I’ll stop there. We would like more bandwidth” .
Additionally, Greaves and Eric Treski of Apple’s product marketing team spoke at length about the overall design of the AirPods 3, which Graves says uses custom components.
They also discussed the Adaptive Equalizer, which adjusts sound in real time based on which AirPods adapt to the user’s ear. This feature was introduced with AirPods Pro and is included with AirPods 3.
