An initial review of LEGO 71039 Marvel Series 2 is critical of the character selection

An early review of LEGO Collectible Minifigures 71039 Marvel Series 2 criticized the character choices in the Disney+ lineup but praised the many minifigures included as “amazing”.

The inaugural series of Minifigures, which will be available in blind boxes (instead of bags of chips), aren’t actually launched until September 1, but the first examples are already appearing in some North American stores. Youtube ashen flash I managed to get my hands on a full box of 36 minifigures in Canada and have now posted a full review of all 12 Disney+ characters.

This new batch of Marvel minifigures comes from the MCU series including Hawkeye, Echo, She-Hulk, Werewolf by Night, X-Men ’97, and What If…? And the Moon Knight. Ashnflash addressed this specification in its review, noting that several series—including Echo, X-Men ’97, What If…? Season 2 – may not actually make it to Disney+ in 2023 and so it could have been saved for a virtual series 3.

“Are these the 12 I would pick? No way,” he says. “I don’t think the X-Men characters should be here – just save them for their own collections. I think Ms. Marvel is definitely the biggest flaw here, it’s very frustrating that she’s not here… She could have had such a great character, detail Extremely. “

However, Ashen Flash praises nearly all of the minifigures included in 71039 Marvel Series 2. He points out a couple of missed opportunities – She-Hulk may have benefited from the Avatar characters’ longer arms and legs, while the exact figure could use a new Ant-Man. Tap – but in general, almost every character has at least one trait: a detail or piece worth shouting about.

For example, he praised Moon Knight as “amazing” and noted the “crazy imprints” of the minifigure on his molded arms and legs. The YouTuber also highlights Echo’s new hairpiece, which actually has an imprint on the braid—subtle enough that he notices it in real time—and even found benefits in what might seem disappointing at first, as in the Werewolf by Nights arm print.

Elsewhere, Ashen calls Flash Wolverine the “least hated character” in the entire series, noting that although he’s a “cool looking” version of the X-Men character, he’s frustrated by the lack of a Marvel Mutant neck attachment – mostly Because Storm gets a similar part. He also says it’s a reminder that X-Men ’97 characters can easily appear in regular sets, and so can feel like lost slots in a collectible mini-series.

More reviews of 71039 Marvel Series 2 will likely start appearing online once the embargo is lifted, but this at least gave us our first look at the minifigures on hand – along with a closer look at their new packaging and boxed sales in North America.

71039 Marvel Series 2 launches September 1 on LEGO.com, in LEGO Stores and through third-party retailers, priced at £3.49 / $4.99 / €3.99 per minifigure.
