We recently reported a dual-display patent approved for Apple’s Pro Display XDR. Always enlightened blog Obviously the apple He again dug deep into the depths of the US Patent Office and found a new patent from Apple.
Accordingly, the patent is said to relate to an advanced ultrasonic touch sensor that can be used in AirPods Pro and AirPods Max. Ultrasound technology could allow future AirPods models to perform better when wet or when wearing gloves. Currently installed sensors struggle to provide the same performance in wet conditions, and there are also problems when AirPods users want to wear gloves and use headphones.
“Ultrasonic touch sensing systems may be affected less when electrically conductive and buoyant fluids (such as water droplets) or isolated objects (such as gloved fingers) come into contact with the touch-sensitive surface.”
Here’s how Patently Apple explains the benefits of ultrasound technology. The blog also contains a couple of diagrams of potential future AirPods models, including a pair of Beats-themed headphones, and an example AirPods Pro that looks very similar to the current model. The new technology will not yet be used in the next generation AirPods Pro 2, as the patent is not yet official at the moment.
