advertisement | The Altenkirchen/Westerwald transformation network – TraForce – was able to bring the famous Tech Night, initiated by VDI and VDE, to the Altenkirchen region for the first time. More than 1,000 visitors expressed their admiration for this exceptional event, which celebrated its premiere last Friday (September 27). An experience that made the pulse of technology tangible and placed the region at the center of future-oriented innovation.
Tinkirchen area. A look behind the scenes – 16 companies opening their doors
At 6pm, 16 of the region's leading technology and production companies opened their doors and provided insights into processes that usually remain hidden. From the latest production techniques to high-tech laboratories and automated production lines, visitors are presented with a world that is normally inaccessible. This journey into the industrial world provided fascinating insights and was accompanied by the accompanying educational initiative at the Betzdorf-Kirchen Vocational School, which, in cooperation with the University of Siegen and the “Landfabrik” educational initiative, focused in particular on promoting young talents.
An example of practical communication of technological processes is the tour undertaken by the Thomas Group, during which visitors were guided step by step through extremely precise production processes. The company, which specializes in the development and production of solenoid valves for vehicles and mechanical engineering, has impressively demonstrated how to implement innovative solutions in controlling flows and forces. Visitors were particularly impressed by the precision and technological sophistication behind each step of production.
s individual technology and full capacity
More than 1,000 tech enthusiasts had already set up their own individual 'Tech Night' in advance and had made hundreds of bookings for various program elements. Booking rates reached a staggering 90%, and in many cases events were fully booked. In addition, eight specially organized excursion groups set out and visited the various stations late into the night – in some cases the exploration tours did not end until 1 a.m.
Family-friendly innovation
Many companies have taken the opportunity to combine a technology night with a family day. During the day, relatives of employees were able to learn about the activities of their family members and at the same time learn about training and career opportunities. The program was supplemented in many places with exhibitions, such as the agricultural machinery exhibition, which was particularly well received by families. This combination of technology, family, and professional guidance gave the night a special atmosphere of openness and togetherness.
The future meets technology
A large proportion of visitors – more than 40 percent – were young people who gained access to the events with special tickets for young talent. These free tickets, intended for school children, apprentices and students, are provided by the TraForce transformation network. For many of these young people interested in technology, Tech Night was an opportunity to make initial connections, find career guidance and test their interest in technical careers.
The response has been consistently positive. “We worked here for six hours without a break, and the interest was very high,” said technology brokers from participating companies enthusiastically.
An initiative with a future
Technology Night, held under the auspices of VDI and VDE, not only had its successful debut in the Altenkirchen region, but also established itself as an important event for the technological and economic future of the region. This first edition has already laid the foundation for continuity and growth in the years to come. Technology Night demonstrated once again how important and valuable direct exchange between technology, business and society is – and how important Altenkirchen is as a place for technological innovation.
