A note from the gobari! Michael Davis: New Hosts, New Initiatives | J! Buzz

I am writing today with exciting news that we have closed and signed deals with Mayim Bialik and Ken Jennings to be the hosts of Jeopardy! Move forward.

The truth is that we have a lot of risks! To put in place, and so many plans for the future, that we always knew we’d need multiple hosts for the franchise, and we’re so grateful that Mayim and Ken stepped in and stepped in to put the show in a position to succeed. And it succeeded. With Mayim and Ken hosting, viewership is skyrocketing year on year, with over 27 million viewers tuned in every week this season. When you consider that almost every other TV show and participation is on the decline, this has been a really great season: we’re the most-watched entertainment show on all of TV. Yes, all TV.

At Mayim and Ken, we have two excellent hosts at the start of Jeopardy! Host careers that connect with their unique fan bases, new fans, and traditional Jeopardy! view. Kane will begin the season in September, and will host the inaugural Second Chance and the highly anticipated Champions League featuring Amy Schneider, Matt Amodio, Mattia Roach, Ryan Long, and many more. His initial hosting tour will take us through December. In the meantime, Mayim Celebrity Jeopardy will be hosting! On ABC prime time. When you take over from Kane in January, the current plan is for you to host new tournaments in addition to Jeopardy! The college national championship and several weeks she can manage with her other primetime commitment to “Call Me Kat.” We know you value consistency, so we won’t constantly flip hosts and we’ll keep you updated on your hosting schedule.

Mayme and Ken are both extraordinarily talented and beautiful human beings. They support the employees and each other. They love and respect this TV show establishment. In return, the staff and I are honored to work with them.

….

So, I mentioned our plans for the future…

Well, the future begins on Monday as we launch three new initiatives in one day:

1. Repeat the season upon us. But instead of repeating our tournaments as we’ve done in the past, this year, my fellow producers and I chose six weeks of some of our favorite season episodes, featuring our closest matches, superheroes, and some of the people that will be announced as part of the inaugural Second Chance Contest.

2. Danger! Highlights. Starting Monday, we’ll be releasing a daily three-minute synopsis of Jeopardy! Loop on our website, across all of our social sites and with our partner affiliates. Now, for the first time, you can catch up on key moments in every game.

3. “Inside the Danger!” Audio notation. Because all of the above gives us so much to talk about, and because there’s always so much to talk about in Jeopardy! (It’s a sport, remember?) We’ll be launching a weekly themed podcast wherever you’re listening to your podcasts. Hosted by Jobardi! The producers, including myself, said, “Inside Jeopardy!” It’ll give you an inside look at everything that happens behind the scenes of America’s favorite quiz show: everything from gameplay analysis and behind-the-scenes stories to official announcements and special interviews. Excuse me Subscribe now to “Inside Jeopardy!” On Spotify, Apple, or wherever you listen to podcasts.

On Monday’s podcast, we’ll be announcing all the contestants who will be back for a second chance to become a menace! a hero. I will share my vision for the future of Jeopardy! , including new developments in the areas of popular culture and sports, and plans for Jeopardy! Show honors and my biggest and most enthusiastic idea: DANGER! Masters League at prime time or on a broadcast platform.

…..

In closing, I would like to congratulate both Maym and Ken. Both were a pleasure to work with. They have my commitment, my product department, that I will focus on nothing but improving the show around them so they can do their best work and handle every day in the studio with excitement and energy. And speaking of, we were back at the Alex Trebek stage on Monday. I simply cannot wait.

Bravery,

Michael Davis
