It's possible that Naughty Dog will bring us The Last of Us Part 3 at some point, but Sony's development studio has other plans for now. After Uncharted and The Last of Us, a completely new brand is coming to PlayStation.
But Naughty Dog could also surprise some fans with this, as it may leave PlayStation Studio's comfort zone. Naughty Dog is known for its single-player games with a good story – but they're all linear.
Naughty Dog: Is there an open world game coming?
There are parts here and there, like in Uncharted 4 or The Last of Us Part 2, where you briefly get more freedom, but the next title could go in an “open world” direction. Here's what insider Ben Hanson suggests.
The former Game Informer video producer spoke about “a lot of freedom for players” on the MinnMax podcast, promising that we're all unprepared for how “amazing this game is.” Internally, it's likely being compared to a very big title, but the source didn't say which game it is.
Heavy games like GTA or Red Dead Redemption from Rockstar Games have of course been thrown into the spotlight on forums and networks. Things have been quiet at Naughty Dog for four years now, it will be five years soon, and slowly but surely it will be time to make an announcement. Maybe we will see it in 2025.
