(October 30, 2024) Today, the Süwag subsidiary Syna GmbH inaugurated the first local network station equipped with clean air technology. This new technology in local substations aims to reduce the impact of energy production and distribution on the environment. It relies on innovative solutions that reduce the use of materials and substances harmful to the environment.

Until now, the insulating but climate-impacting gaseous sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) has been mostly used in local grid stations. Thanks to technological advances, it is now possible to use buffer gases that consist only of pure air components. This significantly reduces the carbon footprint of energy supply.

“This pioneering technology represents another important step towards a more sustainable energy supply. With the opening of the first local grid station in Sosenheim, we are starting a gradual conversion of our stations to SF6-free switchboards,” explains Dr. Andreas Berg, Technical Director of Sina.
