Jon Stewart isn't quite ready to give up his weekly book Daily show gig.
Comedy Central announced Monday that Stewart has signed an extension that will keep him as a once-a-week host and full-time executive producer of the series. Daily show Until December 2025. The news comes just over nine months after Stewart struck a deal to return to the show he hosted from 1998 to 2015.
This initial deal was for Stewart to host the show once a week (usually Monday nights) during the presidential election. With Election Day approaching (and Stewart preparing to host a live hour-long special on November 5), the extension will keep Stewart in office. The show has averaged more than 1 million viewers (including a week of delayed viewing as measured by Nielsen, but excluding live broadcasts) over the past three quarters, nearly double the total for a series of guest hosts in the final months of 2023.
