Dave Bautista Admits He's 'Killing' Himself to Maintain 75-Pound Weight Loss

Actor Dave Bautista has transformed dramatically through his weight loss journey.

The former WWE star has revealed his slim figure and admitted he “kills” himself to maintain his weight.

“I started losing weight because I got fat,” he began explaining on Chris Van Vliet’s YouTube channel.

“I got too big for the role, and it was uncomfortably big… I was about 315 pounds, and I gained the weight very quickly… I stuffed it with French fries and pancakes.”

Bautista has stated that he gained weight for his role in the 2023 psychological horror film, “Knock at the Cabin.”

“Looking back, maybe I was overdoing it. Maybe I was a little big. I gained an uncomfortable amount of weight and it took a long time to get rid of it,” Bautista added.

The Marvel actor admitted that the more he slimmed down, the better he felt.

“I also noticed that the more weight I lost, the better I looked on camera and the better I looked next to other actors… even at that weight… at 6'4″ [and] “I weigh 240 pounds, and unlike the typical actor I see, I look like a gorilla, and that's distracting.”

He continued by saying that his fans have raised concerns online about his significant weight loss.

Although Bautista said he doesn't “starve himself,” he has trouble maintaining his weight.

“I could probably lose a few more pounds. I’m killing myself to be this skinny. I mean, I work out so hard,” he said. “My calories are very limited.”

After revealing that he only eats 2,500 calories a day, Bautista shared his diet plan, which includes intermittent fasting. He also doesn't allow himself to eat 3 to 4 hours before going to bed.

Bautista's comments come after the actor admitted he was relieved to be stepping out of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Drax in “Guardians of the Galaxy.”

“I am so grateful to Drax. I love him. But there is a comfort [that it’s over]“It wasn’t fun at all,” Bautista previously told GQ, having played the role for almost a decade. “It was hard to play that role. The makeup was stressful. I don’t know if I want Drax to be my legacy — it’s a silly performance, and I want to do more dramatic stuff.”

The former professional wrestler turned actor also shared his thoughts on his career in Hollywood.

“I don't live a lavish life. I live here in Tampa. I don't care about the spotlight, I don't care about fame. I just want to be a better actor. I want the respect of my peers. I don't need the praise and adulation – I really don't. It's about the experience, knowing that I've accomplished something.”
