◆Everything from arriving in the US to the hotel is full of surprises!

Well, the flight was about 12 hours from Haneda Airport. I arrived at Dulles International Airport near Washington, D.C. What surprised me was its size. According to research, it is five times the size of Narita International Airport.

I didn't actually explore the airport much, but there was a tree growing next to the runway during landing that looked taller than the plane, and a bus was used to get from the arrivals hall to customs. There were many scenes where I felt the vastness of the area.

However, the immigration process took a long time after landing. It seemed like there were several landing flights, so there was a long line. It took two hours before we finally got through. ◆Learn about human history at the National Air and Space Museum

The next day, I spent the night at the hotel. That day, I visited the National Air and Space Museum near my hotel, partly to cure my jet lag.

This museum collects and displays American aircraft, spacecraft, and more. Since the United States is the birthplace of aviation, there are a large number of exhibits. On the main floor, there were several aircraft hanging from the ceiling, as well as huge engines and airline uniforms.

Since there are few opportunities to see these types of aircraft from below, you will be surprised by the size of the tires and the smoothness of the lower part of the fuselage. There are also models of fictional aircraft such as the Star Trek Enterprise and the Star Wars X-Wing fighter jet.

However, perhaps the most influential mission was Apollo 11, which landed on the moon. I was deeply moved by the sight of this aircraft, which will continue to be passed down as a page in history.

Next, we will walk to the Washington Monument as we pass through a huge park called the National Mall. It was a beautiful sunny day, so I felt comfortable walking. You can also see museums and the US Capitol building along the way.

◆Anyway, I was surprised by the huge size of the United States!

When I got back to Haneda on August 30, the Shinkansen was suspended due to a typhoon, so I ended up spending three nights in a hotel in Tokyo. Even though I only traveled home for half a day, I never expected to be stuck between Tokyo and Nagoya for such a long time…
