Hundreds of Evolution Gaming employees in Georgia are on strike today, July 12. The strike was initiated by the Georgian Labor Company of the UNI Global Union, which organizes online retailers and game providers through the EVO union.
Evolution Gaming Georgia employs over 7,000 people, and over 4,000 have come forward to support the strike. Employees not only want better wages, working conditions, and benefits, but they also want to be treated with respect and dignity, which they believe is lacking at the company.
On July 12, workers stopped work around lunchtime and joined a pre-mobilized strike group around the company's headquarters in Tbilisi.
The strike decision was the result of an extensive legal process, including a 21-day mediation period that ended without an agreement on June 25. Three days before the strike, the company received a formal notice of the strike.
UNI Gaming supports the striking workers and calls on Evolution Gaming to immediately begin negotiations with the union in good faith.
“We stand with our members in their struggle for fair treatment and better working conditions,” he said. Giedre Lelyte, Head of Gaming at UNI. “This collective action represents a strong and united front against the issues they face. It is imperative that Evolution Gaming abandon their stalling tactics and engage in meaningful dialogue to resolve these issues as quickly as possible.”
