Kevin Costner's “Horizon: An American Saga — Chapter 2” will not be released in theaters on August 16.

Currently, the movie is still showing in theaters, but it is not clear when it will be released now.

“Territory Pictures and New Line Cinema have decided not to release ‘Horizon: Chapter 2’ on August 16 in order to give audiences a greater opportunity to discover the first part of ‘Horizon’ over the coming weeks, including on PVOD and Max,” a New Line Cinema spokesperson said. diverse“We thank our exhibition partners for their continued support as moviegoers across the United States discover the film in its theatrical screenings.”

The film is scheduled to be released on PVOD on July 16. A Max release date has not yet been announced.

Costner spent a large portion of his own money to produce the Western. Last month, he said, “I know they say I got $20 million of my own money on this movie. That's not true. I got about $38 million on the movie now. That's the truth. That's the real number.”

On its opening weekend, the film, which had a budget of $100 million, grossed only $11 million and finished third on the domestic box office charts.

“I’ve lived with movies and what happens to them on opening weekend,” Costner said in an interview published the day “Horizon” was released. “If we put too much pressure on that, we’re bound to be disappointed. I’m really happy that ‘Horizon’ looks the way it’s supposed to look, and that’s what it’s going to look like for the rest of its life. That’s really important to me in this process.”

The West franchise is set to include four films, two of which are being shot back-to-back. The first film premiered earlier this year at the Cannes Film Festival.
