The Federal Chancellor and half of Berlin’s Senate attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Siemensstadt. Instead of laying a foundation stone, they filled a state-of-the-art display case intended to illustrate the Berlin region’s origins for future generations. Olaf Scholz brought a photo of himself, Mayor Kai Wegener brought a model of a traditional S-Bahn train, and Siemens CEO Roland Busch brought a virtual triptych of Siemens’ three most important locations: Munich and Erlangen – the historic headquarters in Berlin now belong to them again.
