Sabrina Carpenter likes people to enjoy her “nonsense.”
In an interview with Rolling Stone Posted on Monday, June 17, the pop star, 25, opened up about how her song “Espresso” became a smash hit.
“My mom was like, 'Are you feeling crazy right now?'” Carpenter said of the track in the post. “I just like people to get my sense of humor.”
The song, she told the publication, was inspired by a trip to a crepe restaurant while in France, and it resulted in an insanely catchy chorus, which she remains unapologetic about.
“I decided to put that burden on others,” Carpenter joked.

“That's the only way those stupid, funny, funny lyrics could happen,” Carpenter said of working with her collaborators. “I really focused on the people I love making music with.”
In the story is “Please Please Please” collaborator Jack Antonoff – who also produced half of her upcoming album Short 'n' sweet He praised her approach to pop music.
“The way she puts things, I'm with her right away,” he said. “And [for] Anyone who can see her live, let alone record her, she is an incredible singer. When you're in the presence of that kind of sound, all you want to do is pick it up.
