Institute of Technology: Danish mathematician Hestaven has been confirmed as president of the Institute of Technology

Danish mathematician Jan S. Hestafen is the new head of the Karlsruhe Institute technology Kate has been confirmed. The research university made the announcement on Monday. Hestaven (58 years old) is expected to assume this position in the second half of 2024. The president's term is six years. The supervisory board had already elected Hestaven in January, and the Senate has now confirmed the election “by a very large majority,” it was said.

The professor, born in 1965, studied computational physics and obtained his doctorate at the Technical University of Denmark in Copenhagen. Currently, among other things, he holds the position of Vice President for Academic Affairs at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne in Switzerland, responsible for its strategic direction.

KIT is one of Germany's distinguished universities and is unique in its form because the university and the large research center merge with each other. About 22,300 people study natural sciences, engineering, economics, humanities and social sciences at KIT. There are also about 9,800 employees.
