Actress Mayim Bialik, best known for her role as Amy Farrah Fowler on CBS’ The Big Bang Theory, will not continue in her role as host of the game show Jeopardy!, according to a Saturday post on the actress’ Instagram account.
In her latest social media post, Bialik told her 5.1 million followers that she had been informed that she would no longer be hosting Jeopardy! But she did not provide any specific reasons as to why this decision was made.
“As the holidays begin in Hollywood, I have some risks! News,” Bialik wrote. Sony has informed me that I will now be hosting the syndicated version of Jeopardy for an extended period of time! I am extremely honored to be nominated for an Emmy for hosting this year, and I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to be Part of the Jeopardy! Family.”
Bialik, who is Jewish, has been a staunch supporter and longtime advocate for Israel and the Jewish people.
Bialik thanks Jeopardy! Fans, staff and racers
“To everyone who has supported me through this amazing journey and to the fans, contestants, writers, staff, and crew of America’s Favorite Quiz Show, thank you,” she concluded in her Instagram post.
Bialik was among the first celebrities to publicly condemn the October 7 massacre committed by Hamas. On October 9, she posted a message on Instagram that said: “I pray for peace in Jerusalem and Israel, for kidnapped civilians, and for our soldiers – including my family – who are defending our right to exist.”
In an apparent reference to the Book of Isaiah in the Hebrew Bible, Bialik added: “We all hope to see a day when the bloodshed will stop and we will know war no more,” before concluding his speech with the phrase “Am Yisrael Chai” in Hebrew.
Much of the former Big Bang Theory and Jeopardy! The host’s Instagram page is filled with Jewish and Israel-related content, with several recent posts dedicated to the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah. He appears in a video posted on Instagram on Friday with Jewish and Israeli human rights activist and author Noa Tishbi. The two discussed the issue of anti-Semitism in the context of the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas.
