Bowser says: Nintendo is more focused on games than hardware features

The Nintendo Switch successor is coming. Everyone knows this. While many are focused on what Nintendo’s next console will offer, Nintendo doesn’t seem to be a company that puts that above its games.

In an interview with inverseDoug Bowser, president of Nintendo of America, says the company is more focused on experiences and games with its consoles than on the hardware inside them.

“At Nintendo, we’ve always said: What matters to us is not so much what’s inside the device or device, but what happens on the screen when you put your hands on the controllers and start engaging in the gaming experience.” He said. “Does it engage you? Is it immersive? To that point, you can use a variety of different art styles, some of which are higher resolution, some of which are maybe a different, more cartoony style.”

Bowser added that the different art styles of the games on the Nintendo Switch seem to have helped make the console stand out from those with more powerful hardware.

“I think that’s what sets us apart a little bit, outside of the obvious visual differentiation with the Nintendo Switch form factor, and helped us have that longevity.” He said.
