(via dts) Play as an opportunity for education
Managing Director of the Digital Gaming Culture Foundation, Çigdem Uzunoglu, is committed to understanding gaming as an educational opportunity. She asserts that games are a wonderful tool for imparting education and knowledge and for enhancing skills. Compared with traditional teaching methods, the content of interactive knowledge transfer sticks to a different way. Uzunoglu advocates understanding the potential of games and knowing how to use them.
Guidelines for the use of games in the context of foreign policy
In cooperation with the German Foreign Ministry, Stiftung Digitale Spielkultur has developed guidelines for the use of games in the context of foreign policy. These matters will be discussed at a specialized conference in Berlin. Uzunoglu stresses that gaming as a collective medium is part of the reality of many people’s lives. So why not use this medium to explain complex relationships?
Play in Education: Setting the educational context and methodological setting is important
Uzunoglu believes that almost any game can be used in education, including action games. It is important that games are contextualized and addressed in a methodical and educational manner. For example, car racing games can be used to explain math problems, while action games can be used to draw attention to problem areas. Complex political issues such as the climate crisis, migration, and foreign policy struggles can also be conveyed through games.
