For the grand finale of PlayStation Showcase, it was almost obvious that Sony PlayStation would make room for a sneak peek atMarvel’s Spider-Man 2: Of course the sequel to the hit movie from 2018 has been eagerly awaited since the first reveal in 2021. The new game from tireless developer studio Insomniac Games (“Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales”, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart) is the only main game exclusive The PlayStation 5 is one of the in-house studios Sony still has in its portfolio this year.

In fact, the trailer begins with a first look at one of the new villains coming to the game: Kraven the Hunter. Of course, in the other gameplay scenes that were introduced, we see our heroes Spider-Man and Miles Morales in action. While the sections of the game involving Miles tend to be more stealth-heavy, there is of course also plenty of action. Because both Miles and Peter Parker will be back in New York to take on Venom this time around – and of course, plenty of other bad guys.

In the gameplay sequence in which Kraven’s henchmen hunt down the “lizard” among other things, we also got to see a brand new location that will lead Peter, Miles and of course the players to the Queens borough of New York, among other places. Spider-Man 2 will be released in Fall 2023 for the Playstation 5

If you want to book your own Spider-Man rendezvous with Peter and Miles, you’ll have to be patient: neither Insomniac Games nor Sony PlayStation have given an exact release date. In any case, the game should come out in fall 2023. If Venom voice actor Tony Todd is to be believed, Spider-Man 2 could be out as early as September 2023 — at least that’s what Todd “accidentally” dropped in a tweet. After several big AAA titles have been delayed by nearly all publishers in the past few months, it’s probably true that Sony doesn’t want to set a specific date just yet.

Even if rumors about a possible co-op mode in the game surfaced recently, Insomniac Games recently made it clear that Spider-Man 2 will be a single-player game despite the two main characters – just like Part 1 or Offshoot’s Miles Morales.
