Bosch intends to invest more than one billion euros in the development and production of heat pumps in the coming years. Part of it flows into a new factory in Poland.
Bosch Technology Group intends to invest more than 1 billion euros in the development and production of heat pumps by 2030. About 255 million is scheduled to flow only to build a new heat pump plant in Dobromierz, Poland, the group announced on Wednesday in Stuttgart. Construction work is scheduled to start in the village, about 70 kilometers from Wroclaw (Breslau), in 2024. The start of production is scheduled for early 2025/26. About 500 new jobs are scheduled to be created there by 2027.
At the same time, Bosch wants to strengthen its existing heat pump sites in Europe. The production of heat pump components started in Epelhausen, Hessen, at the beginning of the year. The hardware development ability in Germany has already been expanded in advance. In addition to another German location, Bosch also develops or manufactures heat pumps in Portugal and Sweden, among other places.
Bosch growth drivers
Heat pumps are a growth engine for the building technology division of the enterprise-run company. The Bosch Home Comfort Group (formerly Bosch Thermotechnik) recently had record sales. Compared to the previous year, sales in 2022 increased by 13% to €4.5 billion. The German heat pump business increased by 75 percent, and the worldwide increase was 54 percent.
Heat pumps draw heat from the environment, i.e. the air or the ground, and use it to heat the building. If the generated electricity is used sustainably, there will be no environmental pollution from carbon dioxide emissions. The federal government has set itself a goal of 500,000 newly installed heat pumps each year from 2024.
