March 8, 2022 is another Apple event — and to coincide with this, a new display called the Apple Studio Display will appear in particularly high resolution, which is said to surpass the Pro Display XDR, introduced in 2019.
According to the information received from 9to5Mac Apple plans to introduce Studio Display in 7K. Whether or not this is meant to be a replacement for Pro Display XDR is unknown.
Pro Display XDR offers a 32-inch diagonal screen and 6K resolution, which corresponds to 6016 x 3384 pixels and a pixel density of 218 pixels per inch. The 7K screen doesn’t have to be larger, the pixels may also be smaller. Alternatively, maintaining the pixel size would result in a screen of approximately 36 inches.
Which brings us back to a rumor from the summer of 2021. At the time, 9to5Mac reported that Apple was launching Display with integrated A13 processor advanced. This may be the device that is now being reported again. What the A13 should do with the screen is uncertain. Of course, the screen can simply include the Apple TV. It is also conceivable that the A13 is intended for extending the range of tasks.
In 2016, Apple exited the display segment after offering its own displays as separate devices since 1998. Pro Display XDR came out in 2019, but it’s very expensive.
According to 9to5Mac, it is unknown what the new Apple Studio Display will cost and when it will be launched.
Apparently, Apple also wants to present the Mac mini as a studio device and equip it with the M1 Pro Max.
