Quality vs. performance

While Performance mode is primarily aimed at fast FPS, Quality mode shows you all the glamor of the new generation, including ray tracing. However, in direct comparison, this is more of a gimmick than others even in all of the scenes. Quality mode provides softer shadows, more realistic mirror effects and transparency, but also lower FPS. So you can choose the performance mode with confidence and have a smoother gameplay. But in the end it is up to you of course. Nice that CD Projekt Red gives us a choice here.
