Beijing Olympics wants to bridge differences

On February 4th, the Winter Olympics begin in Beijing. The world hopes to enjoy a true sporting event, but it is also an opportunity to overcome differences, join forces and bring unity and hope to humanity in the context of this pandemic.

The international community calls for unity and cooperation and opposes the politicization of sport. The President of the International Olympic Committee, Thomas Bach, said in a recent article in the Olympic Review that the Beijing Games will be an important moment to unite the world in a spirit of peace, friendship and solidarity. “Only if everyone respects the idea that the Olympic Games should transcend political differences will we be able to fulfill our mission of uniting the world,” he stressed in his New Year’s message.

As the first city to host both the Summer and Winter Olympics, Beijing does not want to let the world down. Preparations for the Winter Olympics in Beijing have entered the final stage: the twelve competition halls have been completed and equipped, as well as the three Olympic villages and the main media center.

From October 5 until the end of December, ten international and two national competitions were held there, which served as a test of structures and organization.

Now added to the Olympic slogan “Faster, Higher, Stronger”, “More united”, as the appeal of the Olympic movement to the world.
