Several leaks seem to confirm more and more features of the new iPhones, but we also constantly see some information that puts certain details in doubt. For example, analysts now believe that Apple faces some problems with the Touch ID on the iPhone 8 and, therefore, this feature would not follow the device.
This is an important issue that has not yet been resolved – as far as we know. The future of Touch ID in Apple’s next flagship is still uncertain. With the borderless screen and a Home Digital button, this design left the front of the model without physical buttons, the company went into a rush to decide where to put the component.
Conflicting information speculates that fingerprint recognition will be placed behind the smartphone or inside the power button next to the smartphone. The plans are certainly to include digital printing technology, including to authenticate payment with Apple Pay. But will Apple succeed?
According to Andy Hargreaves of KeyBanc Capital, the answer is no.
He says that “supply chain conversations indicate that Apple was unable to obtain alternative solutions for the fingerprint sensor on the screen.”
The analyst further adds that this should lead to a negative impact for the next iPhone cycle. This would in fact be a major loss for users with regard to security, even more so considering that 3D facial recognition is a new technology, yet its security to be proven in everyday use cases.
In other news, McDonald’s began sending a promotional message in the email of registered customers, so far so good, except that the images included in the body of the text are yet another leak of the iPhone 8. Seriously: even the famous fast food franchise is up to date on the Apple world.
Of course, this is not the confirmation that many are expecting on the look of the iPhone 8: McDonald’s took advantage of the hype to use the device’s visual concepts, tailoring its own app within the leaks.
If everything happens as expected, the small ledge will serve as a shelter for the front camera, face and / or iris readers, camera speaker, and light and proximity sensor. On the front, in turn, a double camera will give the air of grace. Do not wait for the iconic physical button, though.
If Apple follows its standard calendar, a special event will be held between the months of September and October. On the date, the Cupertino based company will take the stage to announce its news to the public.
