The app is especially useful when you are looking for a building or a place you have never been before. How often have you asked to ask someone who can provide additional information?

Especially when opening hours or particularly hidden entrances, one often wishes that someone is there to help you. This is now recognized by Google and has given the application Google Maps a new feature.

The new Q & A feature allows you to expand the map app to provide a wealth of information. After activating the feature, you can check whether additional information on a location is available under “Question & Answer” in the “Additional information” sub-section. If this is the case, you will find opening times, telephone numbers, contact persons or references to the assortment.

The reason for this is simple: Google wants to create user interaction for users. The idea is not new. Already on other portals it is possible to receive information about restaurants or shops. Google Maps, however, focuses on the communication of the users who have already visited a place, precisely at the time when the info is needed. This makes searching for opening times unnecessary.

In addition, additional information often facilitates the decision for a restaurant. Is EC card payment possible? This is now also directly visible in Google Maps.

In order for competitors not to give false answers in order to harm the company, the shopkeeper is also informed in the event of a question. The owner is also informed when a response from another user is received. For frequently asked questions, the owner of the store can also include FAQs.

The quality of the answers is shown by the fact that the good answers have more positive ratings than other comments. These move upwards, similar to the best comments of a Facebook post. Thus, the best answer is always to be found above, so that users do not have to look for a response long and the appropriate information is always available.

If and when the feature reaches iOS devices is still in the stars. The function is always meaningful, it helps the users where help is needed: directly at the place of the happening.
