According to a number of Reddit users, Spotify has been testing some new features for its mobile application. As a lot of people use the music streaming service as a playlist when it comes to driving around, the company apparently tests a Direction Mode that makes it easier and safer to operate the program.
According to reports released recently, some users are receiving a small update of the app that adds a good amount of news to the interface of the software. The main change? Giant buttons so you can swap fast between one track and another when the car is stuck in traffic.
The leaked image showed that the update also puts a new icon between these advanced shortcuts: a microphone. Yes, it appears that in this mode of use, the Spotify application will allow the driver to give voice commands to pause or play songs and playlists.
The news does not stop there, since Direction Mode supposedly would cause the app to tell the name of the next song in the list, giving you room to decide if you want to listen to it or prefer to skip the track. Note that switching between views requires just a tap on a car icon at the bottom of the screen.
One question raised by the screenshots shared is that the update could be part of Spotify’s internal test. Somehow, the material eventually fell into the hands of some consumers and was revealed ahead of time. Just see that, in the sender field in the feedback section, the software only gives the option to send to registered emails in the “@ spotify.com” domain.
Be that as it may, the functionality should already be highly anticipated by many people who stay on the road on a daily basis. So, will it take so long for it to become a standard feature of the app?
